Mustang
Week just keeps growing into a bigger and better event every year! We’re
back from the show, and we have a lot of news to share with all of our
subscribers today!

After the meet-n-greet party on Tuesday that we reported on from the
show, the Mustang Week schedule led hundreds of Mustangs to the
autocross and open track event at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Wednesday.
As promised, owner / team driver Marcello Canitano was on hand and given
the keys to drive some participants cars around the autocross – with the
owners riding shotgun in the passenger seat! Joel from Mustang Week’s
staff (proud new owner of the orange convertible) and Donna (president
of the Bad Mustang Club) were among the passengers that got taken on one
heck of a thrill ride through the maze of cones laid out this year.
See for yourself some of the action shots taken by BMC member Terry
Stokes to see just how far out Marcello was hanging some of the cars –
it was almost looking like a drift competition more than an auto-x at
times, but everyone had a great time, and came back realizing just what
their Mustang was capable of doing when unleashed on the asphalt!

On Thursday, the SHR crew took a break, while the show moved to the drag
strip for a night of ¼ mile blasts, leading up to the show on Friday.
As always, some of the prettiest and best-dressed Mustangs showed up for
the Friday show, and the SHR staff was busy showing off new pieces that
are now available as well as pieces that will be coming soon for the
2010 Mustang. Weather was a bit rough in mid-afternoon with lightning
and rain trying to slow things down, but after a couple hours of rough
stuff, the skies cleared up and the event resumed. The Bad Mustang Club
“after the show” party at
Logan
’s was great, and had everyone in good spirits for Saturday.

The final
day of the show turned out to be absolutely wonderful car show weather,
and the cruise-in, which was scheduled to start at
was well underway by
! Even more cars than on Friday arrived, and the non-judged cruise-in was
great. Vendors were all around the perimeter of the parking area, so
people could see what was new from some of the biggest names in the
business. As in years past, SilverHorse Racing was set up right in the
middle of the vendor circle, with Ford Racing at one end next to Hooters,
all the way to a mobile dyno set up almost a ¼ mile away on the back lot
of the Colonial Mall. JLT,
Temple Performance
, CJ Pony Parts, Mustangs Unlimited, Fore Precision Works, Saleen, and
others were all there, and it made for a great day in the
South Carolina
sun.
The team’s
trip back to
Florida
on Sunday was uneventful, except for the severe weather warning late in
the day that the team hit with only 60 miles to go back to home base in
Melbourne
. With high winds, blinding rain, and lots of poor judgement, it seemed
that there was a bad accident on the highway about every 4-5 miles for
what should’ve been a 45 minute drive, but turned into a two-hour ordeal.
Luckily, through it all, the team rig pulled through without incident, a
testament to good vehicle preparation and driving for any conditions along
the way.
